2. What we collect
We deliberately ask for the minimum needed to begin a conversation. What we hold depends on how far you go with us.
When you use the enquiry form on this website
- Your name
- Your mobile number
- The type of insurance you selected
- The date and time of the enquiry
Nothing else is captured by the form. We do not ask for your address, date of birth, income, Aadhaar, PAN or payment details on this website.
When you continue the conversation on WhatsApp
Pressing the WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message. From that point the conversation is carried on WhatsApp's infrastructure and is also governed by WhatsApp's own privacy terms, which we do not control. We retain the conversation as a record of your enquiry and our advice.
If you go on to take a policy through us
To arrange cover, an insurer will require additional information — which may include your address, date of birth, vehicle registration and previous policy details, nominee details, health declarations for health and life products, and KYC documents. We collect these only when a policy is actually being arranged, and only what the specific insurer requires.
What this website collects automatically
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site, including pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, and interactions with site features. Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga to distinguish visitors and measure usage. We use this information in aggregate to improve the website; we do not use it to serve personalised advertising. Our web host also records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and reliability.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Data used | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Responding to your enquiry and advising on cover | Name, mobile, insurance type | Your consent, given when you tick the box on the form |
| Arranging a policy with an insurer | Full proposal and KYC data | Consent, and necessity to arrange the contract you asked for |
| Servicing your policy, endorsements and claim assistance | Policy and contact data | Necessity for the service you have engaged us for |
| Renewal reminders before your policy expires | Contact and policy expiry data | Consent, withdrawable at any time |
| Meeting regulatory record-keeping obligations | Transaction records | Legal obligation under IRDAI requirements |
| Site security and fraud prevention | Server logs | Our legitimate operational interest |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Who we share it with
- Insurers — only the insurer(s) you ask us to obtain quotes from or place cover with, and only the data that insurer requires.
- Service providers — the providers who run our website hosting, our form/lead storage, and our messaging channels. They process data on our instructions only.
- Regulators and authorities — where we are legally required to disclose.
We do not transfer your personal data outside India except where a service provider we use stores data abroad; where that is the case, we require appropriate contractual safeguards.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become policies: retained for 24 months, then deleted.
- Policy and transaction records: retained for the period required by IRDAI record-keeping obligations and applicable law.
- Server logs: retained for a short operational period by our host.
6. How we protect it
This website is served over HTTPS. Access to enquiry records is restricted to Insurance Point staff who need it. We apply access controls, keep our systems patched, and do not store payment card details or full Aadhaar numbers on this website at any point.
No system is perfectly secure. If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as required under the DPDP Rules, 2025.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us to:
- Access — tell you what personal data of yours we hold and how it is being used.
- Correct — fix data that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
- Erase — delete your data, where we are not required to keep it by law.
- Withdraw consent — stop us contacting you, at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it, and may mean we can no longer service a policy for you.
- Nominate — name someone to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated.
- Complain — raise a grievance with us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 9. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
This website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data of anyone under 18 through this site. Where a policy covers a child, that data is provided by the parent or guardian arranging the cover.
9. Contact and grievances
For any question about this policy or your data:
- Grievance Officer: Syed Ali Faizan Khadri
- Email: faizan@insurancepoint.co.in
- Phone: +91 94497 21782
- Post: 171, S.C. Road, Nat Kalapa Circle, Jayanagar, Bengaluru – 560004
Our full escalation process is set out on our grievance redressal page.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated to you directly where we hold your contact details.
